Local JROTC Programs Celebrate Marine Corps Birthday

Snohomish MCJROTC hosted the Marine Birthday Ball at Glacier Peak High School on Nov. 3.

The Birthday Ball is a major event for the JROTC and this year they celebrated the Marine Corps 243rd birthday. The JROTC came together and showed their respect and honor those that are on active duty as well as retired and fallen Marines.

The event consisted of a dinner course, a main ceremony and a dance. The ceremony began with the honor guard and the color guard presenting the flag, along with the traditional cutting of the cake.

The guest of honor was Lieutenant Commander Chris Cote. He was presented by Cadet First Lieutenant Kayla Dunham from the Snohomish JROTC.

"It's a pretty cool experience, everybody's really nice, the atmosphere is really fun,” said senior Chyanne Kientiz, who was attending the ball for her first time. “I really enjoyed the video about the Marine Corps and being really faithful, it's really fun and enjoyable."
